Cinemental_039 - w/ John Siuntres - Chatterboxing v1

Monday Nov 09, 2020
This week's guest, radio and podcast legend, John Siuntres is a man who knows how to talk, and we like him. So, when editing this weeks eps, I came to the realization there was a bunch of parts where we all just get lost in conversation and I pulled a few of these out and figured out that we could make a whole show out of this. So that's what I did. We have no real focus for this ep, OTHER than an extended tangent about whether the fact that all new Star Trek sucks or not.
A fun listen regardless and one we may revisit in the future. I really hope you guys dig it. Enjoy!

Friday Nov 06, 2020
Our very special guest, podcaster (WordBalloon podcast) and Chicago radio legend, John Siuntres joins us this week with two of his favorite films. The classic 'slice-of-life' and Barry Levinson directing debut, "Diner" and one of the lesser appreciated 80's comedies, "Armed and Dangerous". Listen in as we decide what we think of these choices and have some great conversation with a guy who really knows how to talk. BTW...this sets up a doozy of an episode on Monday, don't miss it!

Cinemental_037 - w/ Damien Glonek (part two) - Fearless Vampire Killers
Monday Nov 02, 2020
Monday Nov 02, 2020
It's been a really fun ride in the month of October for Scare-A-Mental, but we all knew it would have to come to an end eventually. Well, some of us anyways. Part two of our discussion with Damien Glonek wraps up our horror movie focus with a hidden vampire gem (for us anyways). Roman Polanski's "Fearless Vampire Killers" or "Pardon Me, You're Teeth are in My Neck". There have not been many truly successful vampire comedies, and probably with good reason but if stop and listen closely to our episode, you may just be surprised at what we discover.

Happy All Hallow's Eve! Our penultimate Scare-A-Mental episode features the creative genius behind the world of the Living Dead Dolls and Horror aficionado, Mezco Toyz own Damien Glonek. Damien has brought with him two film choices that clearly define his love of the genre and he is not afraid to tell us why. Join us on this first of two parts that takes the guys to a place where "Children Shouldn't Play with Dead Things" and hear why you should go watch this right now and admit that you love it as well!

Tuesday Oct 27, 2020
Closing in on the end of Scare-A-Mental, we tackle "space madness" with special guest, James Ninness, diving into his favorite film genre, Scifi/Horror. As firm supporters of this, well one of us anyways, we dig into this mostly underrated entry. With a strong production pedigree and solid cast, it should be good right? Listen in to see which way the needle drifts.

Cinemental_034 - w/ James Ninness (part one) - It Follows
Saturday Oct 24, 2020
Saturday Oct 24, 2020
Friend of the show and fellow horror (and film in general) enthusiast James Ninness makes his triumphant return to Cinemental, bringing two more of his favorite films, this time in the Horror genre. On this first part of our discussion we discuss the 2015 very original and fun "It Follows". Which turns a teenage one-night stand into a potential death sentence. (no subtext there, huh?) Listen in to hear our thoughts about this very original horror premise and see if they succeeded or not.

Cinemental_033 - w/ John J Hill (part two) - Maniac Cop
Tuesday Oct 20, 2020
Tuesday Oct 20, 2020
For the second half of our discussion with Creative Director and designer John J Hill, we jump into another 80s cult classic horror film, mini-franchise launcher, "Maniac Cop". Starring a (just barely) post "Evil Dead II" Bruce Campbell. Which, I guess only makes sense since hetero life partner Sam Raimi makes a cameo and shot some B-roll footage. At least two of us had never seen this nugget before this show, and you can hear what we think by just listening in.
In another seasonal tangent, we also discuss the films that contain a scene that made each of us lose a little sleep.

Saturday Oct 17, 2020
Saturday Oct 17, 2020
This week we settle into a comfy couch with Artist/Creative Director John J Hill and discuss the second film in John Carpenter's apocalypse trilogy, "Prince of Darkness". Give a listen to see if we all like this film as much as John does or if there is possibly a dissenting voice in our crowd.

Cinemental_031 - w/ Dan Panosian (part two) - The Ninth Gate
Tuesday Oct 13, 2020
Tuesday Oct 13, 2020
Part two of our discussion with comic artist & writer Dan Panosian about another of his favorite Horror films. Roman Polanski's "The Ninth Gate". The director himself may be a polarizing subject, but this film...well, it may also be a bit polarizing for our hosts. Come listen as we discuss Johnny Depp's quest to find the truth behind very rare book that may just lead to the devil himself.

Cinemental_030 - w/ Dan Panosian (part one) - Midsommar
Friday Oct 09, 2020
Friday Oct 09, 2020
We invited comic creator and artist extraordinaire, Dan Panosian (An Unkindness of Ravens) on to discuss a couple of his favorite horror films. We start with Ari Aster's (Hereditary) sophomore effort "Midsommar". This film was the subject of much discussion when it was released, but you can never have to much good film discussion right? Riiight?? Thought so. Florence Pugh is a revelation in this movie, no matter what you think of it, so there.
